St. John's Lutheran Church
Christian Outreach Committee

The Christian Outreach committee has continued to serve church families and community members in times of need through meals, rides, house cleaning, respite care, baby essentials and prayers.

The committee has provided for families in need of food in various ways. We provide holiday meals for families in need at Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas with funds raised through Bunny Cakes on Palm Sunday and the Farmers Market on Rally Day Weekend. We also provide meals to families in our congregation and community as needed during times of hospitalization and illness.

The committee has the honor of being the holder of the Prayer chain members.

Families in need are helped at Christmas when the members of St. John's donate toys and gifts and the committee distributes them to families that have asked St. John's for help to make there Christmas a little merrier for their children.

Funds are raised for our seminarian students through the Rally Day Cake Walk and Booya or Chili feed.

The committee sponsors the Funeral Committee and Narcotics Anonymous Group, a support group for people after Chemical Dependency Treatment.

Other annual activities included are Pastor Appreciation Day serving mini muffins and coffee during the Friendship hour and Senior Sunday when we honor our seniors with a potluck after services.

We send out holiday cards to our seniors over 70 years of age, get well cards and thinking of you cards to members of our congregation who need a little lift. We sponsor and provide assistance with the American Red Cross.

This is the 9th year for this committee. Members include: Sis Frenning, Elsie Groth, Katie Allquist, Laura Glem, Linnea Kment, Lynne Graber, Birdie Peterson, Linda Dilts, Sandy Knutson, Linda Hubbard, Carol Arceneau and Annette Olson.
